That was the main reason why a number of blacks didn't become Muslims in the movement (60's) in the U.S.....No BBQ, are you serious....

Forbidden Book
by snowbird inmy oldest daughter once worked at a convenience store/gas station for a muslim gentleman.. he had two sons - the older one @ university, and the younger worked with my daughter.. well, my daughter said the younger was blackmailing the older because the older was in possession of a bible!.
she also said the young man confessed to her that he often times went to a soul food joint way out in the country and ordered pork chops.
she said he told her they tasted soooo good.. lol.. sylvia.

What was it like being a JW in the 1960's and 1970's
by UnshackleTheChains inthis is obviously a question for the older generation.
i'm really curious what it was like to be a witness in the 60's and 70's?.
was the society as strict as it is today?.

Yes service was serious business. Evening door knocking while folks are sitting down for a nice relaxing meal, standing in front of churches when their service is let out, calling on old class mates (didn't care if they thought I was nuts I found a new religion the truth). Informing my Baptist minister, take my name of the roll I have the truth now I will not be part of Satan's organization..Bold we were and a little crazy....LOL

I personally believe most people in the world are basically good, but according to the Bible for instance Roman 3:10 it contradicts my belief. How do you like that, and JW's believe the world is full of depraved, immoral and Satan worshipers....That kind of belief will make you a little psychotic....

Do religious people fear that their religion may be wrong???
by James Mixon inbecause there are so many religions in the world and it is obvious that no matter what the truth is, a large population of people will be wrong about it.
we at one time believe we had the truth and 99% of the world population were in darkness, but i wonder about folks in other religions today.
speaking with a christian friend about this and he told me," that's for god to decide, i hope i'am serving god"...the sad thing about all of this if one die and still believe in his religion, he will never know he was in the wrong religion.

"Every person who receives the Son has life eternal". OK, both Muslims and Orthodox Christians believe that Jesus was miraculously born without a human biological father, by the will of God. Mormons believe J.C. is literally the son of God, the Savior and redeemer. In other words must religious organization believe Jesus the Son of God, so why are 99% of religious organization wrong....

There were beach parities, sports event between congregation, social affairs(parties folks), and the assemblies were great. We were having a great time before our worldly family and friends became bird food, we were safely on the Ark, we were special with special knowledge. You talk about being full of yourself, Wow that was us......We believed( adults) that we were seeking the best life for you young ones our kids.....

David_Jay: short answer. Is Judaism a religion or a culture and the same for Buddhism?? I thought Buddhism were the only religious group that does not perceive an eternal metaphysical aspect of the human personality in the same way that others do..

Would human settlement of Mars invalidate Bible prophecy?
by truthseeker ini don't think this topic has been discussed before but yesterday i read something to the effect that trump wants a human mission to mars to be completed within his presidency.. with that being said, the watchtower teaches that what started on earth ends on earth, in other words, the fall of adam and eve would end with the passing of the 1,000 year millennial reign when christ destroys all his enemies, rebellious "perfect" humans, and the devil and his demons who are let out the abyss for a short while.
he then hands the kingdom back to his father.
an elder in my old congregation once told us during a public talk that he was an ardent astronomer but then referenced the scripture where it says, "the earth he has given to the sons of men" (psalms 115:16).

Why settle on Mars..2 Peter3;9-10 He will destroy this present universe and create a New heaven and earth. Why
not wait, but it's dumb to destroy the universe when there is no one out there..
